Are you hard on yourself, where you consistently PUSH yourself to achieve things, perfect things, avoid 'failure', or avoid making a 'mistake'?
If this is the case, you may be missing out on a vital opportunity to hear what your inner-child ACTUALLY wants rather than what that lovely chatterbox in our mind (ego!) is seeking.
You see, when we 'push' ourselves, we are actually going against the flow of where life REALLY wants to take us. We are 'thinking' we must do this, we must do that... What if we don't? What will happen? Will I get in trouble? What will they think? Will I prove myself? Fear, fear, fear, brings on the do, do, do cycle...
But what about BE?
What about if we could really just be comfortable in BEING?
Yes we need to DO in life, that is a given, but from which place in ourselves are we actually 'doing' all this from?
Is it from FEAR? Or is it from LOVE?
That's why I feel it's vital for us, especially Sensitive Souls, who have more delicate nervous systems, and who are more prone to stress (therefore to illness!), to slow down. To have slots of relaxation in our day. Where we can stop, breathe, and tune into ourselves.
Tune into ourselves and our inner-child. And ask her/him...
What are you feeling right now?
What do you need right now?
What do you need to tell me right now?
In which direction shall we go right now?
And believe me, the answer is always there. She/he knows what they want and what best will serve their, hence your, needs.
And this answer will most certainly be coming from LOVE.
Rather than the fear of the ego...
So that you are cared for. You are nurtured. And that your own, personal needs are met.
Therefore, allow me to pose the following challenge to you this week:
1. See if you can get up 30 minutes earlier in your day, and do something really nurturing for yourself. It could be meditation, yoga, a morning walk in nature, dancing, or giving yourself a big hug.
2. Give yourself another 30mins before going to bed to do something nice for yourself. Perhaps a warm, aromatherapy bath, a meditation in the candlelight, another self-hug, or even a self-massage.
3. Once you've nurtured yourself, take 5-10mins to tune into your inner-child and ask them the questions stated above?
They may just have some very special insights to offer you... :-)
